Suspect charged with second degree murder in shooting death of Winston-Salem teen

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A suspect involved in the shooting death of a Winston-Salem teenager has been charged with second degree murder.

William Darnell Ruth II, 24, of Winston-Salem, has been in custody since July on a charge in the same case of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

On Aug. 13, he was charged with second degree murder.

The shooting happened around 9:22 p.m. on July 20, in the area of Bloomfield Drive and Junia Avenue, near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Police say Danny Joe Harris, 17, was found shot to death inside a house at 2051 Bloomfield Drive.

Jenisha Shattiera Crawford, 26, was also found with gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say that Brittany Shardiney Robinson, 24, sustained a minor injury.

Larry Kennard Cloud Jr., 27, of Kernersville, was also arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

No mugshots of the suspects have been released.
