Second suspect arrested in Winston-Salem Quality Inn robberies

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with a string of robberies at Quality Inns and other local businesses.

Raymond Craig Johnson, 36, of Winston-Salem, was arrested on Thursday and charged in connection with the robberies.

Johnson was discovered under a bed in an apartment located at 930 E. 3rd St. He refused to comply with verbal commands and advances. A Taser was deployed and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Johnson is in the Forsyth County Jail under a $100,000 bond.

Antonio Denard Torrence, 38, of Winston-Salem, was arrested on Aug. 1 in connection with the robberies. Torrence was charged with four counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of attempted robbery. He was placed in the Forsyth County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.

The robberies took place between July 22 and July 30 at various Quality Inns as well as two convenience stores.
