A North Carolina restaurant has been named one of the top 10 restaurants in the South.
Southern Living magazine named Rhubarb in Asheville number five in its list of best Southern restaurants.
The restaurant describes itself as “upscale dining with Chef John Fleer.”
Southern Living recommends the restaurant’s Brick Oven Prince Edward Island Mussels in a Celery-Fennel Broth with Benton’s Bacon and Grilled Chapata Bread.
“Benton’s bacon shows up in a bowl of mussels in a silken celery-fennel broth,” according to the magazine. “The roasted whole trout bathes in wood smoke before joining a crisp potato-celeriac latke.”
The Kimball House in Decatur, Ga. topped Southern Living’s best restaurant list, followed by Rose’s Luxury in Washington, D.C. and the 404 Kitchen in Nashville.
