NC missionaries return home from Africa

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Eleven missionaries are back home in Charlotte after being in the thick of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

The missionaries are part of SIM in Charlotte. Its president, Bruce Johnson, says they are all living in quarantine now on SIM grounds.

Johnson says the missionaries, five adults and six children, have so far shown no signs of Ebola exposure. He stresses that placing them in quarantine is just a cautionary measure and they should be free to reincorporate themselves into the public in a few weeks.

Johnson says the organization has dealt with similar concerns in the past. He notes that more than 100 years ago, two of the group's founders died from malaria. He says the Ebola concerns won't prevent his group from helping out in West Africa as it can.
