Missionaries exposed to Ebola expected to arrive in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Missionaries who have been exposed to the Ebola virus are expected to arrive in Charlotte after caring for others in West Africa.

The missionaries, SIM USA staff and their family members will be arriving at an undisclosed, non-public area of the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, according to officials.

It hasn’t been released how many people are returning to Charlotte or when they will arrive.

As a precautionary measure, N.C. Public Health officials are requiring a quarantine period for the staff and volunteers who are returning to North Carolina within 21 days of their last exposure to Ebola.

Officials stress that no returning SIM USA staff members or volunteers have symptoms of Ebola infection and there are no confirmed or suspected cases of Ebola in the state.
