Burger King brings back chicken fries

MIAMI — Burger King customers’ voices have been heard.

The Miami-based chain will bring back chicken fries, the breaded and fried chicken strips served in a fry-style box, after taking them off the menu in 2012.

When chicken fries were removed from the menu, customers took to Facebook and Twitter to complain, with some using the hashtag #BringBackChickenFries.

“We underestimated the cult following that the product had,” Alex Macedo, president of North America for the company, told MSN Money. “There’s a big opportunity for us to bring it back.”

In an effort to boost sales, Burger King has been introducing new products. McDonald’s recently began selling a $2 jalapeno double burger and Wendy’s brought back pretzel buns in June.

Burger King first sold chicken fries in 2005. They will now be offered for about 12 weeks, or while supplies last.
