NC babysitter accused of leaving children unattended in van at Walmart parking lot
BELMONT, N.C. — A North Carolina babysitter is accused of leaving three children unattended in a van at a Walmart parking lot.
The Gaston Gazette reported that Anna Elizabeth Conley, 24, of Pineville, was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of misdemeanor child abuse.
Police said she was babysitting three children and left all three alone in a van Friday in Belmont. The children were 7-months, 2-years and 5-years-old.
When police officers arrived, Conley got out of a nearby truck and ran over to check on the children, according to the paper.
The van she allegedly left them in was unlocked and had the air conditioning on, according to police.
The suspect reportedly told police she was meeting with a man to buy a car and the van with the children was not far from her.
The suspect was released on a $5,000 secured bond and has court planned for Sept. 23.
