HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point police are looking for whoever drove an SUV into a house and crushed a gas meter, causing a gas leak.

Authorities said they were called to the home in the 1500 block of Brentwood Street shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the suspect drove into the home and then ran off. There was one person inside the house at the time, but the occupant was not injured, according to officials.

The white Ford Expedition was headed north on Brentwood Street when the driver went through a yard, clipped a utility pole, crossed a street and drove into the left side of the house, according to officials.

Authorities said the foundation of the home was damaged and a gas line was ruptured, leaking gas into the home.

There were two people in the SUV, who both ran off, headed north on Brentwood Street, according to officials.
