Now, thanks to social media, fundraising has been given an upgrade through crowdfunding sites like gofundme.com.

Pierced Ministries and Rehab Services in High Point is a ministry focused on helping men change their lives, which involves Josephus Thompson taking Greensboro-area teens and young adults to costly competitions.
The cost to attend “Brave New Voices” in Philadelphia this summer was $5,000. Almost $900 of that was raised through the crowdfunding website “Fundrazr.”
The website was a blessing to the group.
But State General Attorney Roy Cooper warns that some people are looking to take advantage of the fundraising sites.
