KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — A woman was airlifted to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Kernersville Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 7:51 a.m. on Stonehaven Road at Highway 66 South.

Troopers say the driver of a VW Jetta was making a right from Stonehaven onto Highway 66 when she pulled into the path of another vehicle and was struck by the vehicle in the driver’s side door.

The driver of the Jetta, 48-year-old Gemma Rodriguez of Kernersville, was airlifted to Baptist Medical Center. Her condition is not known.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

No charges will be filed at this time.

I agree with Bo Diddley, I live in this neighborhood where wreck occurs and my doctors are all Baptist Docs. An ambulance could have gotten her there down 311 very fast. I can get to my doc appt in 15 minutes if I want to (depending on traffic). An ambulance can move much faster. I don’t understand the reason they called in a helicopter.

      Rebecca and Bo,
The helicopter was flown for one reason they had a every long extrication, which means the patient injuries could or could not get worse the longer it took to get help to the patient. Which is what is call in all medical books the “golden hour” which means if a patient is treat with in that hour they have a greater chance of survival. So before you have a opinion and decide to bash the public servants of ur community i felt like i needed to better your knowledge and ur wisdom. so with this info maybe you will rethink ur opinion on what really should happen and understand why the “bird” flown. lastly my outstanding US citizens, IF ur loved one was in a car that’s has been wreck and was hurt you would want them to be seen or taking care of right than in there with no delay of a 15 min ride to Baptist. So now that you too a just a hair bit smarter, appreciate ur public servants and don’t bash them cuz just think it maybe u or a loved one that’s need the guys u bash! thanks for you time and stay safe!!!!!

The people that don’t agree with landing a chopper. Don’t have a clue what the reason is so ,why don’t you keep your stupid mouth shut and leave it to the people that do no.

They could have been pinned with an extended extraction time. If that’s the case then the helicopter is a better option. I’ve worked for Forsyth EMS they don’t fly patients often.

Kernersville medical is Not a major trauma center as Baptist can handle any type of trauma. SO pretty much all hospital’s cant handle everything, some have specialties which give the patient a better chance! So common sense is not always the answer but once again people make statements with no info to back them selves!

wHEN IT COMES TO JUDGE OTHER PEOPLE’S ISSUES, WE ALL SUDDENLY BECOME EXPERTS…
WHEN A DISGRACE COMES TO OURSELVES, FAMILY OR RELATIVES, WE DEMAND THE BEST SERVICE, NO MATTER THE COST OR RESOURCES USED
I HONESTLY PRAY TO GOD, NONE OF Y’ALL BE IN THE SAME SITUATION.
    GOD BLESS US ALL

For your info the lady involved in this crash is my aunt and I am absolutely sure that if you were in my place you would’ve wanted the fastest way for her to get to the hospital.

  • Shame on you

Did any of you witness this accident or the aftermath? Well I did. It was horrific and she had to be cut out. The emergency response was well handled and I pray that she survives her injuries. Accidents happen everyday. That’s why they are called accidents. I am discouraged that anyone could leave such ugly comments. God forgive you.
