NC police officer, wife accused of sexually assaulting underage family member
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer was arrested Wednesday after police say he sexually assaulted an underage family member.
Reginald K. Harris has been charged with three counts of first-degree sex offense, three counts of indecent liberties with a minor and three counts of crimes against nature.
Police say the charges stem from a criminal investigation which began on July 3, 2014, and revealed that Harris sexually assaulted an underage family member on several occasions between 1999 and 2002.
Dia Harris, 40, the wife of Harris, was also arrested and charged her with three counts of felony child abuse, three counts of indecent liberties with a minor, three counts of crime against nature and 3 counts of first degree sex offense for her involvement in the case.
Reginald Harris has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.
Detectives are investigating to determine if there are any other incidents and/or victims involved.
