RUSSIA — A fisherman’s life was saved by his Justin Bieber ringtone during a recent bear attack, according to the Daily Mail.

Igor Vorozhbitsyn, 42, was walking to a fishing spot in northern Russia’s Yakutia Republic when he was pounced on by a brown bear.

Vorozhbitsyn said the bear attacked him from behind and got on top of him. As the bear began to claw him, his cell phone ringtone — “Baby” by Justin Bieber — went off. The bear then halted its attack and fled.

“I couldn’t believe my luck when the phone went off and he fled,” Vorozhbitsyn said. “I know that sort of ringtone isn’t to everyone’s taste but my granddaughter loaded it onto my phone for a joke.”

Sometimes a sharp shock, such as the sound of a cell phone ringtone, can halt a bear’s attack, a wildlife expert explained to the Daily Mail.
