SUMTER, S.C. — A woman arrested after police say she was driving drunk admitted that she left her toddler home alone.
WLTX reported that deputies pulled Edith Rita Amerson,44, over around 4:30 a.m. Monday for driving drunk.
During her arrest, deputies say the woman admitted to leaving her son home alone.
Deputies went to the woman’s home and found the child sleeping. He was not harmed.
Officers contacted the child’s father, who came to retrieve the child.
Amerson was charged with unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person and DUI.
