Temporary lane closures to be installed along U.S. 52 in Pilot Mountain
PILOT MOUNTAIN, N.C. — As part of the accelerated construction schedule to complete the N.C. 268 bridge replacement project in Pilot Mountain, the N.C. Department of Transportation will install temporary lane closures along U.S. 52 beginning Monday.
Crews will close the left lane of northbound and southbound U.S. 52 at Exit 134 in Surry County for construction of the interior bent of the new bridge, according to NCDOT officials.
The lane closures are expected to remain in place for about three weeks.
NCDOT is working with contractor Smith-Rowe to accelerate the bridge construction project by six months. The new bridge should be open to traffic by the end of 2014, according to officials.
