Police charge man in shooting death of Wilson 7-year-old

WILSON, N.C. — A man has been arrested in the shooting death of a 7-year-old Wilson boy.

The shooting happened before 10 p.m. July 23, in the 400 block of Parkview Street.

Police say someone fired multiple bullets into a home, striking Kamari Jones. The boy was rushed to Vidant Medical Center where he died the next morning.

Montavius S. Davis “Scooter,” 24, of Stantonsburg, has been charged with first degree murder, according to Wilson police.

Neighbors say they were shocked to learn about the arrest of Davis.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

    Why are they surprised, he has been arrested and convicted 6 times before.
