LOS ANGELES — Facebook was down for 30 minutes around noon on Friday, prompting many people to search for answers on other social media websites.
Shortly after Facebook went down, Sgt. Burton Brink of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department sent out a tweet reminding the public a Facebook outage was not a public safety issue.
The tweet from Sgt. Burton Brink, a spokesman for the Santa Clarita Valley station, received more than 1,800 retweets.
Brink couldn’t be reached for comment by KTLA, but a morning-shift watch commander at the Santa Clarita Station said he was unaware of any emergency calls Friday about Facebook.
According to the Facebook status page, Facebook acknowledged the error at 12:01 p.m. As of 12:35 p.m., Facebook was back online.
