North Carolina Legislative Building in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. — The State Senate gave tentative approval Thursday to a $21.1 billion compromise spending plan for the year, according to WRAL-TV.

Senators voted 32-13 in favor of the budget and a final vote was expected shortly after midnight Friday.

The legislation includes $282 million for teacher pay raises, according to WRAL-TV.
