HIGH POINT, N.C. — The driver of the vehicle that struck and killed a man on a scooter has been charged with a crime.

Salvatore Castigila, 52, of High Point, has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

The accident happened near the intersection of Brentwood Street and Leonard Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The rider of the scooter, Wayne Timothy Comer, 47, of High Point, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Comer was traveling south on Brentwood Street when he was struck by a Chevrolet Equinox that was being driven by Castigila.

Reports indicate Castiglia turned west onto Leonard Avenue into the path of Comer’s scooter.

Wow, thanks for such an insightful post counselor. I’m sure that the fact that you were actually there at the scene of accident, is why you came to such logical conclusion and not because the article already said it was a misdemeanor right?

Weren’t you one of the people who was blaming the moped rider, when the story first came out? Now that you find out he was hit by a person who is apparently a latino, you are all over that. How predictable.
