NC man accused of using fake child abuse donation box to obtain money

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. — An Onslow County man has been arrested after police say he created a fake child abuse donation box and placed outside a store in order to take people’s money.

Samuel Carson Harris, 47, of Sneads Ferry, was arrested and charged with felony obtain property false pretense.

According to WCTI, Harris obtained an unknown amount of money from people at the Surf City Friendly Mart between January 2010 and November 2013 thanks to a fake  “protect-a-child” donation box at the store.
