National Dance Day was last Saturday, but a very unique dance program has been keeping a group of kids in step with fun and healthy dancing all summer.
The young dancers at the Boys & Girls Club participated in the Captain Green Eyes Dance Troupe’s summer dance camp, offered free of charge by the Woodruff law firm and the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Greensboro.
Boys and girls ages 6 to 11, are exposed to a variety of dance styles, hear about healthy food choices while receiving a healthy snack and learn a routine prepared by the founders of The Dizzy Feet Foundation, a national dance education program.
Launched in 2010 by Dizzy Feet Foundation co-president Nigel Lythgoe, National Dance Day is an annual celebration on the last Saturday in July. The grassroots campaign encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health and combat obesity.
On Saturday, they performed for National Dance Day in hopes of landing a special spot on FOX8’s So You Think You Can Dance.
