MADISON, N.C. – A large car show is currently taking place in downtown Madison until 5 p.m. to benefit the Madison Rescue Squad.

Rusty Gray of the Madison Rescue Squad said he expects several thousands to attend.

Gray said prizes will be given away including a $75,000 grand prize. Participants must have a ticket to be eligible for the prize.

Tickets cost $40 and are good for all 43 drawings, meaning you can will multiple drawings, according to Gray. The tickets are just for the raffle. Attendance is free.

Gray said he hopes to generate $30,000 from the event to get a new building for the Madison Rescue Squad, which is a volunteer organization and is not tax-supported.

The Madison Rescue Squad is regularly dispatched in the community and recently helped rescue a group of family members stranded on the Dan River.

The event will also have a place for children to play with inflatables. Food and drinks, including beer and a moonshine garden, will be available.

Tickets can be bought online at

These good ‘ole boys like to and drive 90 mph down 85 to get to the race in Charlotte. Rode bumpers and was driving reckless at speeds well above the posted limit. I was going to purchase a ticket, but realized it was these idiots that put others and my family at risk.
