Dwight Ridgeway McGinnis Jr., 67, of Raleigh, was charged with vulnerable adult neglect and served with an outstanding warrant after police said his mother was found inside a truck in the parking garage of Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover, Maryland.

According to WNCN, police responded to the parking garage around 6:37 p.m. after someone reported that the elderly woman was inside the vehicle.

The woman told police she had been in the truck alone since 1:42 p.m. She is confined to a wheelchair and was unable to get out without help.

Police said the woman was initially confused and incoherent when officers arrived, but she was able to help them locate her son after she was given water.

“The only evidence of food or drink in the vehicle was an empty soda can,” police said. “The air temperature at the time of the report was 81 degrees, and the victim was found inside the vehicle with one window only partially open.”

McGinnis was found and arrested a short time later.

McGinnis was also served with an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for a driving suspended charge.
