CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A pediatrician trusted to care for babies is accused of exposing himself at the North Carolina Welcome Center on Interstate 77, according to police reports.

WSOC is reporting that Dr. Alan Cherer, a neonatal specialist from Carolinas Medical Center – Northeast, is on administrative leave after he was arrested on indecent exposure charges.

Police won’t say how Cherar was caught, only that they received a call on July 16 from the North Carolina Welcome Center for “suspicious activity.”

Cherer worked as a neonatologist specializing in the care of newborns.
