CLOVER, S.C. — A woman was arrested after deputies say she let a nine-year-old girl drive her car while the she was intoxicated with a toddler on her lap, WBTV reports.
Carol Ann Goforth, 46, was arrested Thursday and charged with driving under suspension, driving under the influence, child passenger restraint system article violation, permitting unauthorized person to drive, and two counts of children/legal custodian, unlawful neglect of a child/helpless person.
Deputies received a call Thursday evening saying a woman had two small children in the car and one of them was driving it.
Deputies responded and found the vehicle pulling out of a driveway. They said Goforth was driving but had her two-year-old son on her lap. The other child, a nine-year-old girl, was in the passenger seat.
During a traffic stop, Goforth was given a sobriety test and “admitted it was a bad thing to endanger the life of her small son and her friend’s child,” according to the report.
The nine-year-old girl told police she had been driving the car.
Goforth was taken to the Moss Justice Center, where she was placed under a $16,567.50 bond.
