DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A Florida father who beat up his son’s alleged rapist has been hailed as a hero by many.

However, he says his son is the true hero.

“My immediate feeling was to kill him so he will never hurt anyone again,” said the victim’s father.

The man says he doesn’t regret his reaction but believes the face of the accused, 18-year-old Raymond Frolander, is getting too much publicity.

“My son saved Raymond. Raymond was motionless on our floor, I went to the kitchen to grab a butcher knife and my son stopped me. My son came in front of me and saved his attacker’s life,” he said.

The father says he treated Frolander like one of his own and says police reports that Frolander was abusing the boy for the last three years are wrong.

He claims there was an attempt three years ago, but then Frolander left town and only recently returned.

The victim never told anyone about the attempt, so he didn’t know anything until he walked in on the sexual battery.

The beating was brutal but not life-threatening and the father says that’s because of his 11-year-old son.

Frolander faces a charge of sexual battery of a child and is being held without bond.

    • you need to work on your grammar son

While I do not want nor mean to discredit your retort, I do not understand the context here? – Seems like a legit comment and sound advice from ‘Looky Here!’ to me…

I believe that the context might be that a remark like “make sure you do not invite the snakes into your home or your life” places the responsibility solely on the father. Sometimes, you do not know who the snakes are and there is nothing even the most aware and astute parent can do. It is a remark that I see as an analogue to the “If you don’t want to be raped, don’t wear skimpy clothes.” stance. The victim and the father are not to blame here, and I can see how that kind of remark would come across that way.
