2 arrested after pit bull found with severe neck injuries
JONES COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies arrested two people for allegedly tying a parachute cord around a dog’s neck, causing severe trauma, according to WCTI.
Markela Sanders Joseph, 36, and her godson, Latigue Chance Alston, 17, were arrested Friday for animal cruelty.
Warrants said the suspected placed a parachute cord around the neck of a 2-year-old female pit bull mix to restrain the dog. The cord caused deep laceration to the dog’s neck. The dog was reportedly also deprived of food and water.
It is unclear how long the abuse had been going on.
Investigators said the dog has since been treated and is now doing fine.
