CONWAY, N.H. — A 15-year-old New Hampshire girl who disappeared while walking home from school nine months ago is now at home with her family, the state attorney general confirmed on Monday.
Abigail Hernandez was reunited with her family on Sunday evening. Her mother told authorities “today we are the happiest people on earth.”
The family has asked for privacy.
Abigail was reported missing last October after she left Kennett High School. Police said she walked her normal route and sent several texts between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the day she went missing but never made it home.
Several months ago, police revealed she had written a letter to her mother and there was the possibility that Abigail had run away. However, it was possible someone was coercing her into staying away from home.
The investigation is ongoing.
