Mother drinks bleach after being accused of severely beating daughter with bamboo poles

WOODRUFF, S.C. — A mother reportedly drank bleach after her daughter was found severely beaten at her home, according to WHNS.

Police responded to the home in Woodruff after a receiving information that a child had been abused.

An investigation revealed that the child’s mother, Teneshia Osby, beat the 16-year-old repeatedly with multiple objects including bamboo poles that had been taped together, a broom stick that had been broken in half, wooden kitchen spoons, a kitchen pot, a piece of wood and a belt.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The mother then reportedly drank an unknown quantity of bleach in an attempt to harm herself, WHNS reported.

Once released from the hospital, Osby was charged with neglect of a child by abuse.

She was placed in the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
