CANDOR, N.C. -- Candor is known as the "Peach Capital" of North Carolina and the cause for its namesake is just a few days away.

The annual Candor Peach Festival is this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Barbara and Garrett Johnson, owners of Johnson's Peaches, say it's one of their biggest sales days of the year.

At the festival, visitors can see a parade through the downtown, and purchase all kinds of peach products, including ice cream, jams and dumplings.

Local farmers want to remind people that Candor farmers would be happy to sell peaches any other day, too.

Johnson's is open seven days a week through October.
