HOPE MILLS, N.C. — A fox that attacked a 2-year-old child in Hope Mills has tested positive for rabies, WTVD is reporting.
It happened on Spinnaker Drive Sunday night.
The family was playing with their dog in the yard when a fox approached and attacked the child.
Officials say the child suffered scratches, but was not seriously injured.
When the child’s mother tried to intervene, she was bitten. The fox then began to attack the dog’s legs.
The child’s father killed the fox and contacted Animal Control.
The dog was up to date on his rabies vaccination, but was given a booster shot at Animal Control.
