WHITSETT, N.C. — A 17-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle while walking along Rock Creek Dairy Road in Whitsett Thursday evening.

Shortly before 9:45 p.m., the girl was walking when a vehicle, believed to be a green four-door Honda Accord, came up from behind her. The car’s right rear view mirror struck the girl on the left elbow with enough force to knock the mirror off the car.

The victim was hospitalized with a dislocated elbow and fractured pelvis.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Highway Patrol at 919-733-7952.

Why in the world is someone walking down a dark road that late at night? It is awful she got hit but that is asking for trouble. She is lucky she wasn’t killed.

She’s 17, that’s why. Yeah, she was also on the wrong side of the road. That is why you’re supposed to walk against traffic. You can see them better than they can see you.
