One person killed in crash on U.S. 220 in Rockingham County

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Rockingham County authorities said one person was killed after a car caught fire in a crash with another car.

Officials said it happened shortly before 4 a.m. Friday on U.S. 220 southbound at Williams Road. The identity of the victim has not been released.

The crash involved two cars, one of which caught on fire, officials said. Highway patrol has not said specifically what happened.

The victim was in the car that caught fire. The other driver was not taken to the hospital, according to authorities.
