NC man charged in dog attack that injured woman
GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Authorities in Wayne County have arrested a man in connection to a dog attack that sent a 71-year-old woman to the hospital.
WTVD-TV reported that Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies charged the dogs’ owner, 35-year-old Terry Butler, with “animal causing a disturbance” and “animal running at large.”
Authorities said four of his dogs attacked a woman late last month. She suffered extensive injuries and remains in the hospital.
The elderly victim was watering plants around her home in the morning when she was attacked by four dogs, according to deputies.
Authorities were called and had to shoot one of the dogs, which officials described as a pit bull, according to WRAL-TV. The other three were reportedly impounded.
The victim also had a pit bull, which tried to protect her, but suffered injuries and had to be euthanized, deputies said.
The suspect said he was shocked to hear what his dogs did and is sorry about what happened.
