Crews rescue teen after fall from NC waterfall

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — Crews were at South Mountain State Park in Burke County Tuesday night after emergency officials said a 17-year-old fell nearly 60 feet at a waterfall.

WSOC-TV reported that the teen was injured after falling at High Shoals Waterfall around 6 p.m. and had to be airlifted to a hospital in Charlotte.

Crews placed the teen on a board, wrapped him up to keep him warm and used a zipline to get him to an overlook to safety.

His identity and condition has not been released at this time.
