Bond of missing teacher’s boyfriend reduced to $20k
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Angelo Smith’s bond was reduced to $20,000 on Wednesday, but he will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device, according to WSOC.
Smith is the boyfriend of former Guilford Co. teacher Bianca Tanner, who has been missing for three weeks.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is calling her disappearance a homicide investigation.
A judge decided Wednesday that Smith will be on house arrest and will only be allowed to leave home to go to work. His next court date is set for Aug. 12, where he will face a charge of delinquency of a minor. Officials said Smith left Tanner’s 3-year-old son alone.
Smith told a judge he left the child alone at 2 a.m. to go looking for Tanner. He said he did not know for how long.
Chief Rodney Monroe says Smith is now being considered a person of interest in Tanner’s disappearance and added that Smith did not give investigators any good information.
Smith told WSOC that he loves Bianca and loves her child.
