NEWTON, N.C. — Newton police are looking for the person who killed a high school counselor after a medical examiner determined her cause of death was homicide.
Police are not releasing Maggie Daniels’ cause of death, according to WSOC.
Officers have been trying to retrace Daniels’ steps and are pulling surveillance videos of where she might have been last, hoping it will give them some idea of who was the last to see the teacher alive.
Investigators said Monday there was no sign of forced entry to her apartment.
Police are continuing to investigate.
The Daniels family released a statement:
“We are deeply saddened by the terrible news surrounding the death of our loved one, Maggie Daniels. Words cannot describe the grief that we are going through right now. We, as a family, have decided not to comment while there is an ongoing investigation.”
