NC man accused of stealing 10 puppies, owner finds them for sale on Facebook

WILMINGTON, NC — Police are searching for a puppy thief after a man broke into a Wilmington home and stole 10 puppies.

The owner told police someone broke into her home on Mears Street and stole 10 puppies. The victim said she went on Facebook and found the puppies for sale, according to WECT.

The woman made arrangements to meet the seller at Walmart and buy the puppies back. When she arrived, she spoke with the man and noticed the puppies were still in the same box that they were in at her home.

The victim grabbed the puppies and went back to her home. She was able to get a photo of the suspect for police.

Wilmington Police are looking for Michael Hines, 23, of Navassa, and have obtained warrants for felony breaking and entering and larceny of a K-9.
