There are now three confirmed cases of a mosquito-borne virus in North Carolina and experts are worried that number will only increase.

The confirmed cases of the Chikungunya virus have been reported in Buncombe, Alamance and Forsyth counties.

Another case is being investigated in Randolph County.

The president of the Pest Control Authority said calls have been coming in non-stop since cases started popping up.

One U.S. senator is also asking the CDC to issue a health alert to help doctors identify and treat those infected.

The virus causes fever, joint pain, headaches and rashes.

Like West Nile virus, experts said patients dealing with Chikungunya often just have to wait the illness out.
