PHOENIX, Ariz. — A man tried to smuggle more than $13,000 worth of methamphetamine inside an accordion across the border at Nogales, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Eloy Renteria-Ortiz, 18, of Mexico was stopped at the Morley Gate Monday after almost $13,600 worth of meth, 4.5 pounds, was found wrapped in black tape inside the musical instrument.

CBP officials turned Renteria-Ortiz over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
