Yadkin Co. woman faces charges of trafficking drugs, fraud
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Yadkin County woman is accused of obtaining fraudulent prescriptions and fraud, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
Brenda Lafferty McKinney, 49, of Boonville, received more than 4,600 dosage units of Hydrocodone and Diazepam between June 20, 2012 to May 30, 2014, according to police.
McKinney faces various charges including 16 counts of tracking in opiates, nine counts of possessing a schedule IV controlled substance and 25 counts each of identity theft and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
Police conducted the pharmaceutical fraud investigation at the office of Triad Neurosurgical Associates at 160 Kimel Forest Dr. in Winston Salem.
McKinney was placed in the Forsyth County Detention Center under a $300,000 bond and has court planned for July 11.
