BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Caleb Bankston, who competed on Survivor during the Blood vs. Water season, died when the train he was on derailed in Birmingham on Tuesday, according to multiple media reports.

Bankston, 26, worked at the Alabama Warrior Railway in Birmingham.

Bankston’s fiancé, Colton Cumbie, is one of the game’s most notorious players.

Officials from the Kansas-based transportation company confirmed the accident on Tuesday. Pittsburg, Kansas-based Watco Companies owns the Alabama Warrior Railway and officials say a safety stand-down has been ordered at the railway before workers return.

Officials say the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Federal Railroad Administration have been contacted.

“Caleb was an amazing man and friend,” fellow contestant Aras Baskauskas tells PEOPLE. “One of the sweetest and most sincere humans I’ve ever come across. I am gutted by his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
