Child taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after lightning strike in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 9-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with life-threatening injuries after a lightning strike, according to WSOC.

The incident happened in the 500 block of North Summit Avenue.

Police said his parents were walking away from a ball field. They heard thunder and turned around to see boy on the ground.

Police said the boy may have been struck by lightning after day camp at Johnson C. Smith University.
