FOX8 attended the event at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Sunday. Check it out in the video above.

I remember when i was a kid the jehovah witness would come to the park across the street
from the house and give you there magazine and try to convert you i just throw it in the trash can

      • dewey

the Baptists try and hook you with free hot dogs and candy or a pancake supper…..remember how they used to hand out the Chick’s tracts that pretty much said that you were going to hell……lol, those were the good times

    • dewey

you know exactly when they’re coming…..on Saturday morning, usually before you get up…..and that’s no reason not to like them……what I dislike are people who feel that their religion is better than all the others….most Christstain denominations are just as bad, if not worse.

Politely knocking or ringing your doorbell is not rude. It might be an unbelievable inconvenience to you to answer your door, but that does not constitute rude behavior. Nobody forces you to a conversation or even to answer the door. That alarm system salesman putting his foot in the door because he does not like NO for an answer—that is rude!!

  • Amazing

As my mother have told me, if you can’t say anything nice, DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL. I’ve learned from other family members, you don’t answer your door and if you do, tell them to put your address on the DO NOT CALL ON LIST. Its not that hard. AND I AM NOT A WITNESS BUT MY FAMILY IS, SO IF YOU WANT RESPECT FROM ANY RELIGION YOU GIVE RESPECT.

    • Ken

While I agree about the respect aspect, maybe the witnesses should show more respect and not try to disturb people at their homes. It starts with the people trying to “reach out”. The fact that no other religion has to go door to door should be your first clue that maybe your tactic is not really appreciated.

Baptists go door to door…..I’ve had Presbyterians, Lutherans and a couple of nondenominational churches show up at my door….and let’s not forget the wingnut Mormons… we move into an age of reason, their congregations will fall off, it’s actually already started

      • Mark Daniel Martinez

It should be worth noting that their continued door-to-door work has been crucial in establishing the right to do so without first getting some kind of permit. Meaning, you get to go door-to-door and talk about anything with your neighbors, politics, religion, public events, and you don’t have to inform the government first. In a time where everyone is throwing around terms like “government overreach” all the time, you’d think they’d appreciate that with certain freedoms, come the occasional, decidedly minor, nuisances.

Sounds nice but the facts are that the Watchtower teaches little respect for other beliefs and is in fact intolerant of others beliefs. They could not give a care about anything but themselves.

I am not a Jehovah’s Witness, I am a Methodist. There is one thing I admire about the Jehova’s Witnesses: They are the true missionaries of their faith. In my old Methodist church there was a banner across the church exit: “The mission field starts here”. Not many people followed that advise. All they did is go to church on Sundays and nothing the rest of the week. The Witnesses talk the talk and they walk the walk. And if you do not want to talk to them, say so. I have yet to meet a Witness at my door who has an attitude……..

    • Alex

They are forced to go door to door because they have a changed bible version called the New World Translation and improper interpretation of the scriptures making it a requirement for salvation.
      Totally without support.

  • Robert

There’s nothing rude about the Witnesses. They take up, what, 60 seconds of your time in a work designed to help others? Gee, what a terrible thing for anyone to want to do, huh? The actual rude ones are the people who slam the door in their faces or get all in a huff when a simple polite refusal (if they do) is all that’s necessary.

My husband and I attended the regional convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Winston-Salem. Here is what we experienced: Close to 12,000 people (and a total of well over 100,000 tied in from other convention sites) enjoying 3 days of Christian brotherhood and unity. There was no foul language, no smoking, no drug or alcohol abuse, no violence or fighting. There were young ones finding seats or giving up their seats for the older and/or infirm. There were no policeman, no trash on the floor or grounds of the convention center. There was no pushing or shoving, but just parents spending quality time to teach their children spiritual values. What was probably the most amazing thing of all is that all of us in attendance are imperfect, yes sinners! So, you may not like us coming to your door, but you cannot deny the positive effects of Bible teaching in a person’s life. I thank Jehovah God every day for sending someone to my door 34 years ago and I never regret that I actually answered the door when Jehovah’s Witnesses came to encourage me when my mother died of cancer just a few months before. They did this willingly, out of love, and without monetary compensation. For these reasons, I have not missed a single annual convention for 34 years!

In Jesus’ sermon on the mount, he said his followers would be hated

Matt 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Matt 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you

Have you really thought about why you hate people who get up early and spend their time trying to tell people what most do not want to hear?

Matt 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
    Matt 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

The good news about the kingdom of God must be taught to all the world for a witness to all nations. This is a fact.

Matt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

We were blessed with free will; we each must make a choice between life and death. Adam chose death for all of us; now it’s up to each of us to make our choice.

Deut 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

It is good to be able to find scriptures to back up our beliefs

Acts 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

I myself am not a wittness but my entire family is how inconvenient is it that once or twice a year a polite person knocks on your door doing what they believe Jesus did to help the sinners of the world. to what they believe is inviting u to join their paradise/perfect world “after Armageddon” . And because they woke u up early on Saturday a couple of times or made u walk all the way to your front door to say I’m not interested, constitutes you to hate someone maybe you are the ones ingreatest need of the information they are trying to spread. These people are the most polite generous giving loving people you may ever come across and they take their days of rest to ” what they believe” is help you experience the greatest gift they can offer . So shame on u hateful people shame shame shame. Tolerance is a virtue few of us have and in this day of age we should be light years beyond . So maybe stop being such g.d. crybabies and tolerate a little bit .

The Jehovah’s Witness religion that the Watchtower Society runs (or more like run by a few older men calling themselves the ‘Governing Body’ which is a title not found in the scriptures), is a pacifist hate group. The will not harm you physically, but they look forward to your end of all others.
Also if you dare go against the direction of the Governing Body leaders, then they have everyone who is a baptized member (including direct family), convinced they must shun you to show you love.
