GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A recent Western Guilford graduate won a brand new car at an event honoring Guilford County students who help out in the community.

Jenisa Henry unlocked the door to a 2014 Dodge Dart from llderton Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of High Point.

The gift was part of Guilford County Schools’ third annual “Cool to Serve” event. Henry also won an iPod nano, one of 45 Apple prizes raffled off.

The event honors members of the class of 2014 who have earned a service-learning diploma or exemplary award.

Henry was one of more than 450 students who recorded at least 250 hours of service-learning time, according to the school district.

She earned more than 500 hours of service-learning credit by working with young students at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greensboro and High Point.

Henry earned her service-learning diploma, making her eligible to win the car, according to organizers. Just the diploma recipients were eligible to win the car.

School officials said Henry will attend Wingate University in the fall. Henry said she is not sure what she wants to study, but hopes to be an environmental biologist.

Congratulation Jensia Henry, and thank you for your many hours of service. Without kids like you many programs are limited to serving the people they serve. Enjoy your new ride safely, and the best of luck to you in accomplishing your dreams.
