Zoo forced to adopt stray cat after it makes unlikely best friend

SAINT PETERSBURG, Russia — A house cat is now the talk of the Leningrad Zoo after it broke into the enclosure of a European Lynx.

According to the Love Meow blog, locals say the cat was a stray and happened to find food in the lynx’s enclosure. Instead of attacking the cat, the much larger and more powerful lynx decided to share its food and the two soon became friends.

The zoo has now adopted the cat so that she and her lynx friend can live together.

    Isn’t just the best!
Hate that they felt they were forced but understand for the reasons.
    Anyway, thanks for the article.

very, very Precious and Heartwarming; but just curious…Did the lynx recently lose Her Own kitten, or sibling possibly??

Everyone enjoys companionship, even so-called ‘solitary’ animals. It never ceases to amaze me how cats will befriend so many different types of other animals. I’ve seen cats make friends with horses, grizzly bears, wild crows, owls, wild foxes, etc. I don’t think cats are really meant to be solitary animals. Watching this video, the lynx keeps asking the calico to lick it’s head. Obviously that lynx was lonely.
