HIGH POINT, N.C. — A motorcycle collided with a car in the 200 block of Eastchester Drive on Monday around 4 p.m., according to police.

The driver of the car was making a left turn into a parking lot. The motorcyclist reportedly hit the rear of the car and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Officers say the man operating the motorcycle was bleeding heavily from an injury to his arm. He was taken by EMS to High Point Regional and is listed in serious condition.

Charges are pending but police say excessive speed on the part of the motorcycle rider and failure to yield on the part of the driver of the car contributed to the accident.

I’ve been riding since I was a kid (17) and it’s gotten worse over the past 10 years. When you are driving a motorcycle, you have to be aware of everyone around you b/c most people are “distracted driving” and don’t see us motorcycles. I’ve been riding for 20 years now and it scares me to drive down certain roads in town b/c people are to busy texting, talking on phone, eating and so on to see someone on a motorcycle. What kills me is when someone pulls out in front of me and expects me to be able to stop on a dime….riding in 2014 is a lot different than riding in 1995. People wake up and pay attention to where you are going…pull over if you need to use the phone or eat b/c that is how you save a life!

Want to die early in life, then go ride a motorcycle through High Point and Greensboro daily. The drivers are so distracted and too busy holding a cell phone up to their ear or texting than worrying about safely operating their car or truck! I wish I could smash their car or truck windows when I see them not paying attention to driving and more worried about their phone!

Can’t put all the blame on car/truck drivers. A lot can also be placed on the motorcyclists. I have seen motorcyclists go flying down Eastchester at easily 20 over the limit and then pass using the center turn lane. I also can’t count how many times in the last week that I have seen them slashing in and around other vehicles at a high rate of speed on various roads including on the highway. This person probably would’ve tried to turn whether it was a motorcycle or a car but if that motorcycle was truly going excessively fast then he deserves the full blame for the accident. As the car probably would’ve been able to turn without any issues if he hadn’t been flying down the road.

But as the idiots behind the wheel increase so do the number of idiots on motorcycles!!
