GOLD HILL, N.C. — Police are seeking public assistance in tracking down a man they say threatened to shoot people at an elementary school.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, a white male suspect called Morgan Elementary School on Wednesday and claimed he was coming to the school around noon to shoot people.
Morgan Elementary, along with other local schools, were placed on lockdown and police responded.
Deputies and local police agencies quickly determined that there was no active threat and schools resumed regular activities.
Following an investigation it was determined that the call was placed from a pay phone located at a business in Salisbury. Security footage from the business shows a white SUV type vehicle at the phone at the time the call was placed.
Anyone with information about the vehicle pictured above is asked to call Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687 or Det. Billy Basinger at 704-216-8682.
