Man accused of statutory rape involving juvenile in Alamance County
ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A 38-year-old Morrisville man is accused of statutory rape and soliciting a child by computer in connection to a juvenile in Alamance County.
Robert Elwood Jefferson faces two counts of soliciting a child (by computer) with the intent to commit an unlawful sex act and three counts of statutory rape.
Alamance County deputies said they were called to a mobile home in the area of Trollingwood Hawfields Road early Thursday morning in reference to suspicious conditions.
Deputies said the suspect had been seen parking his vehicle at a residence believed to be unoccupied and then entering another home.
Upon arrival, deputies said they made contact with a female juvenile who lived at the home.
Officers said they determined that the juvenile should have been alone, but the suspect was found to be present.
The suspect was taken into custody and placed under a secured bond of $200,000 pending his first appearance in Alamance County District Court, according to deputies.
