MCLEANSVILLE, N.C. -- A woman's body was found along AT&T Drive in the McLeansville area of Guilford County on Thursday morning, according to deputies.
A landscaping crew driving along AT&T Drive alerted authorities to report something suspicious.
Deputies responded to the scene around 11:20 a.m. and found a woman's body on the side of the road about 1/4 mile from Mt. Hope Church Road.
The victim had been shot at least one time and stabbed at least one time, according to Randy Powers with the Guilford County Sheriff's Office. Deputies believe her body had been there 15-20 hours.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
The victim is described as a white female, about 25 to 35 years old, with short brown hair and about 5’05” to 5’06.” She was wearing black “yoga style” pants and a grey athletic shirt with a quarter zipper.
Deputies have issued an alert across the state and they are checking missing person reports.
Officials said the investigation is not related to the case of the missing Guilford Co. teacher.
