Man arrested for attempting to shoot moon after ‘seeing Halley’s Comet’
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — An Arizona man was arrested for unlawfully discharging a firearm after authorities said he was trying to “shoot the moon.”
Police responded to a home where a woman reported her boyfriend had fired “several shots from a handgun” at the moon and was still armed.
Cameron Read, 39, also admitted to smoking marijuana before the incident on Friday night.
The woman told police that Read was talking about seeing Halley’s Comet and fired a round out of a window.
Halley’s Comet, last seen in 1986, returns to Earth’s vicinity about every 75 years.
